More and more we’re hearing about how the creation of fashion is hurting our planet in a fast and furious way. I was excited to find out that PrAna’s main concern when creating their clothing is to have as little negative impact on the environment as possible (what a dream if more brands and companies did this). PrAna chooses recycled poly, hemp and organic cotton when creating their clothing…doesn’t this just seem to make much more sense? Caring for the environment is essential and I commend PrAna for their efforts.
Why is organic cotton so important? Because it is grown without the use of toxic insecticides or pesticides, making it sustainable and safe for the farmers and you. I want to point out that when my latest package arrived from PrAna, there was absolutely zero plastic packaging as my clothing was rolled up neatly and tied with natural rope. First off, I want to say that the quality of PrAna goods is just wonderful. Not only that, but they clearly consider comfort to be as important as function. The Leda Pant that I ordered is probably thee softest item of clothing that I own. I use them for Pilates and I actually feel like I’m cheating when I’m wearing them. Made from organic cotton hemp stretch jersey blend, they feel like ultra-suede. Yeah, it’s kind of hard to explain, but they are wonderful and will definitely be thee most comfortable pair of pants you will ever own. The other item that I ordered was the Costas Bra which is of such great quality and made from, get this, a recycled poly blend. I love that! This sports bra is so sturdy and the price, compared to many other brands that I’ve been looking at is super affordable (plus, this is good for the environment and that always beats everything else in my book).
