The first thing you’ll notice about The Commentary Apothecary is their witty, modern packaging. When you open them, the scents are just so good. The creator, Dr. Aviva Ebner told me that she wanted to make it very clear that nothing extra is ever added to her products as she wants the user to experience the highest benefits. The first products I tried from this line were their fantastic-smelling bath salts. These were really great to test out as they had my entire apartment smelling beautiful, so aromatherapeutic. If you’re a bath fan, you will love how soft you’ll feel post-bath. The Commentary Apothecary has two types:
CALM BLEND “take it with a grain of bath salt” – the scent is of the prettiest lavender (if you’re a lavender fan, you need these bath salts). Right before bed? So wonderful.
REVIVE BLEND “take it with a grain of bath salt” These bath salts are totally invigorating with the scent of subtle eucalyptus. Perfect after a nice long workout, to recharge or brighten your mood. Plus, it’s beautiful-looking with its big, pink Himalayan salt grains.
I was so thrilled when I opened up the Commentary Apothecary box and saw that they carried masks! I love that the line isn’t complicated, either. There’s a mask for dry skin and one for oily and they both have only a few super-clean ingredients.
DRY SKIN “drop the façade” mask This mask left my skin looking so bright and feeling so fresh and soft! The ingredients are straightforward and the mask works. I would recommend this before a night out, for sure. It also offers a gentle exfoliation when removing it. Ingredients? Kaolin clay, ground oats and lavender essential oil. Nice, right?
OILY SKIN “drop the façade” mask This mask exfoliates, absorbs oil and never leaves the skin tight or dry. Gentle, the skin feels clean and new. If you find that many masks for oily skin are too harsh, you’ll find this to be a new favorite. Ingredients: calcium bentonite clay, ground oats and tea tree essential oil.
Almost out of this! With the scent of vanilla and citrus, the “work that body” body scrub has grape seed oil, aloe vera and vitamin E to leave your skin so moisturized that you need not apply any moisturizer when you get out of the shower. The cane sugar gives a hearty scrub for baby-soft skin! If you love a great body scrub and the scent of citrus and vanilla, definitely get this.
“you’re the balm” Super creamy with the scent of tangerine and shea butter, this smooth balm feels so good on the lips and will be excellent for this Fall/Winter. I’m thinking that this could easily become a balm addict’s new best friend. Used after their lip scrub? Heaven!
“give me some sugar” lip scrub Believe it or not, I can’t remember the last time I tried a lip scrub and I’m wondering what’s wrong with me. You need just a little for super soft lips. Plus, the ingredients here are so wonderful, how could it not get the job done? Sugar, coconut oil, agave nectar, vitamin e oil, grape seed oil and tangerine essential oil. DEAL: See below how to get a free “give me some sugar” lip scrub!
Okay, so this might be one of my favorite products from Commentary Apothecary. Their “stop and smell the rose water” refresher is absolutely a MUST for those of you who love a spray and love rose. This is 100% pure, dye-free rose water and it is fantastic for spraying before applying your moisturizer or pre-makeup/post-makeup! I’m almost out of it and not happy about it. There’s just something about the refreshing feel and scent of rosewater.
Want those beachy Gisele waves or just to add some texture to your hair? “wake those waves” sea salt spray gives your hair that “just spent the day by the ocean” look without drying it out due to the addition of aloe vera and fractionated coconut oil. I’m recommending this for both long or short hair to give it that texturized, messy, sexy look. I didn’t detect any scent when I used this.
Be still my beating heart, The Commentary Apothecary makes hand-poured soy candles and they are scented with 100% natural plant-based fragrances! I tested the Warm Woods candle and it smells of spices, vanilla and, naturally, the woods. If you’re a vanilla fan, this will be what you’ll want for the chillier weather. They also carry Cool Citrus Blend which they say smells refreshing!
